Why FullPage Capture over GoFullPage
- Free where GoFullPage charges. Smart PDF page breaks that never cut a line, the URL and date stamp in five styles, and an editor you can use are free here. In GoFullPage the same three cost Premium, $12 a year (the site also says $1.00 a month).
- Things GoFullPage does not do at all: a searchable capture history in the browser, capture of PDF files opened in Chrome (GoFullPage's own FAQ says it “is unable to access the PDF document”), an evidence band with a SHA-256 checksum anyone can verify, batch capture of a URL list, and upload to your own Google Drive.

Any extension can stitch a plain article. The difference shows on real pages, and it comes from how the capture is made:
- Apps that scroll inside a panel. Gmail, Notion, Trello, Jira, dashboards: FullPage Capture finds the element that really scrolls, captures the whole window once and then unrolls only that panel, so the result is the app, complete.
- Sticky headers, cookie bars and chat bubbles once. Photographed at the top, then hidden while the rest scrolls past, instead of repeating on every screen or covering the text.
- Images that load on scroll are waited for, screen by screen, so nothing comes out grey; a slow page can be given more time in the options.
- Embedded frames and PDF files. A document viewer inside the page is captured on its own, and a PDF opened in Chrome is rendered page by page into one image.
- Very long pages do not fail silently. Beyond Chrome's canvas limit the capture is saved as numbered parts, and the editor puts them back together whenever the whole still fits.

Questions
Is FullPage Capture a copy of GoFullPage?
No. They are separate products from separate teams with separate code. Both scroll a page and stitch one image, which is why they look alike from the outside; the difference is in what each does with the hard pages and with the capture afterwards. GoFullPage began in 2012 as an open source project; FullPage Capture is a newer extension built independently, with the editor, the PDF engine, the history and the evidence band designed in from the start.
What does FullPage Capture give free that GoFullPage charges for?
Smart PDF page breaks, the URL and date stamp and a usable editor, which GoFullPage sells as Premium (Premium, $12 a year (the site also says $1.00 a month)). Capturing, exporting PNG, JPEG and PDF and copying to the clipboard are free in both.
