A scrolling screenshot, or long screenshot, is one image of a page that is taller than your screen. Phones have it built in; desktop browsers do not. FullPage Capture adds it to Chrome and Edge: click once, the page scrolls and captures itself, and you get the whole page as a single PNG, JPEG or PDF.

How to take a scrolling screenshot in Chrome

Install FullPage CaptureFrom the Chrome Web Store or Edge Add-ons. Free, no account, no watermark. It runs on Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS, wherever Chrome or Edge runs.
Open the page and click the iconOr press Alt+Shift+K. The page scrolls by itself, screen by screen. A sticky header or cookie bar is captured once, at the top; images that load as you scroll are given time to appear.
Get one long imageA result tab opens with the whole page as a single screenshot. Copy it, annotate it, or save it as PNG, JPEG or a PDF with page breaks between lines.

Where scrolling screenshots go wrong, and what this one does about it

Sticky headers repeat. Captured once, at the top, then hidden while the page scrolls. Cookie bars and chat widgets too.
Images load late and come out blank. Each screen waits for its images before it is photographed; a slow page can be given more time in the options.
The page does not scroll, a panel inside it does. Gmail, Notion, Trello, admin dashboards: the extension finds the real scroller and unrolls that.
Embedded frames. A document viewer or an embedded page inside the page can be captured on its own.
Very long pages. One image up to 28,800 pixels; beyond that, numbered parts you can download or edit separately.
Dark pages. The result keeps the page's own background, so a dark page does not land on white.
Pages behind a login. Anything you can see in your tab can be captured; nothing is fetched from outside it.

Scrolling screenshot on Windows, Mac, Linux and ChromeOS

The extension does the same thing everywhere Chrome or Edge runs, so the operating system stops mattering. For the record, this is what each one offers on its own:

Windows. Snipping Tool and Print Screen capture the screen, not the page. Edge has Web Capture with a full-page option, but no editor to speak of and no PDF with page breaks.
Mac. Shift+Cmd+3 and Shift+Cmd+4 capture the screen. Safari can export a page as a PDF (File → Export as PDF), but not as one image.
Linux and ChromeOS. Same as Chrome anywhere: DevTools' Capture full size screenshot, with the limits below.
iPhone and Android. Built in: Full Page in Safari's screenshot preview, Capture more or Scroll capture on Android. Extensions do not run on phones.

What is a scrolling screenshot?

A screenshot of more than fits on the screen: the tool scrolls the page, captures each screen and stitches the pieces into one tall image. Phones call it a long screenshot, a full page screenshot or an extended screenshot. Desktop browsers have no such button, which is what this extension adds.

How do I take a scrolling screenshot in Chrome without an extension?

Open DevTools (F12), press Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+P, type "full size" and run Capture full size screenshot. It is fine for a simple article. It cannot unroll a panel that scrolls inside the page (Gmail, Notion, dashboards), sticky headers can repeat or cover text, images that load on scroll are often missing, and there is no clipboard copy, no editor and no PDF.

Does it work on Windows? On a Mac?

Yes, on both, and on Linux and ChromeOS: the capture happens inside Chrome or Edge, so the operating system does not matter. Windows Snipping Tool and the Mac screenshot shortcuts capture the screen, not the page; this captures the page.

Why does my scrolling screenshot repeat the header on every screen?

A header that stays fixed while you scroll is photographed on every screen by tools that simply glue screens together. FullPage Capture captures it once, at the top, and hides it while the rest of the page scrolls past. The same goes for cookie bars and chat bubbles.

Can I take a scrolling screenshot of Gmail, Notion, Slack or a dashboard?

Yes. These apps scroll a panel inside the page rather than the page itself. The extension finds the real scroller, captures the whole window once, sidebars and all, and then unrolls only the panel. Apps that scroll inside a panel

How long can the screenshot be?

As long as the page, up to Chrome's own canvas limit of 28,800 pixels per side. A page taller than that is saved as numbered parts, and the editor can still put them back into one canvas whenever the whole image fits.

Does it work in Microsoft Edge? In Firefox?

Edge: yes, from Edge Add-ons, with the same features. Firefox has its own screenshot tool with a "Save full page" option and cannot run this extension. There is no Safari version either. Edge Add-ons

Can I use this on iPhone or Android?

No, browser extensions do not run on phones. Use the built-in feature instead: on iPhone take a screenshot in Safari and choose Full Page; on most Android phones tap Capture more or Scroll capture after a screenshot.
